Breeding Objectives
Douwana Dorper have set a clear breeding objective to produce a fast growing lamb that can handle an extreme environment, while traveling long distances to food and water.
Douwana Dorper strives to produce high lambing percentages that suit the increasing public demand for quality product.
Through growth, fat and muscle measurement, together with visual assessment and family pedigree performance, it enables us to make advanced breeding decisions.
Through close monitoring of our flock, Dorpers are chosen to enter our embryo transfer program. Our top 5-10% of ewes are chosen to go over specially selected sires to ensure optimum genetic gain.
